Importance of On the Job Training Essay

On the job Training are part of a college curriculum that aims to train and orient students about the work and their future career. OJT is very important not only to teach students their chosen career but to show students the reality about working. On the Job Training is very important and should not be taken for granted, here’s why: Aside from the high evaluation grade that you will receive from the employer, the employer may absorbed or offer you a job after graduation. Your background OJT experience is very important when applying a job. Employers often asked about the OJT experience and how it is related on the job that you are applying for. The OJT experience that you have can land you a great job. Especially in Media related jobs, most employers often asked and require an OJT experience from a media company. For instance, a news writer who is applying in a TV Network has great advantage if he/she has an OJT experience in a Media company like TV, Radio or Publishing. Your superior in the company that you are working for as an OJT may recommend your skills to the company affiliates or to other company that he/she knows. OJT will be your training ground. If you still have no idea on what is meant to be a worker, OJT will give you at least 10% of career realities. The company that you are currently applying in often makes a background check to successful applicants. If you have included your OJT adviser or employer in your character references, the company may contact them to ask information about your skills and knowledge as their student or intern. You can consider your OJT experience as your guide on your first days at work, especially if your OJT and current work are related. You can use your experience and observation as an OJT to your current job if you still have issues on adjustments. Most students have taken their OJT for granted; not realizing the importance it can bring on their future career. Having a good performance during OJT is very important especially now that there’s a tight competition towards job seekers and the high qualification of companies.

Neuroscience of personality

This paper will deal with the question of whether or not neurosciences and neuroanalyses would provide scientists and researchers with a clue about one’s personality, and why one does the things that he does. Can neuroscience provide an answer to how psychological capacities develop and function in the social world? The paper will also talk about the fact that the nervous system of the human being is confirmed in one’s personality, and that today, it is possible to tackle personality as a scientifically backed concept, rather than as a philosophical mystery that nobody can really comprehend.Neuroscience of personalityMost scientists and psychologists alike feel that personality, and the study of human personality and behaviors occupies a strange and lowly position among the annals of human psychology, despite the fact that the topic of ‘personality’ and ‘traits’ crops up quite often during the course of even a normal conversation between two ad ults.As a matter of fact, the study of personality changes even induces disdain among some individuals, perhaps because of the extremely subjective nature of the subject, and also because of the historical tendency to describe the structure of personality rather than the intrinsic nature of personality. However, with the development of neuroscience over the years, it may possible at last for the study of personality to undergo a ‘scientific makeover’, and to study the human brain through imaging, in the hope that the molecular genetics causing variations in human neuro-transmission would be able t provide an idea into the most pressing questions that exist today on human personality.   (Pickering D Alan, Gray A Jeffrey (1990)The question here is whether or not neuroscience would be able to provide the answer to the critical issue of the manner in which a typical human personality develops and functions in the social world. Caspi, Berr and Elder (1989) provide importan t research on the relationship that exists between personality and socio economic conditions, and one interesting example was the personality changes observed in people who happened to grow up during the years of the Great Depression. Most of these people exhibited a tendency to temper and great anger, aggression, short temperedness and so on, and further research revealed the astonishing fact that economic outcomes during one’s childhood would influence one’s personality through the years, and one would show ill temper if one had been economically deprived during one’s childhood. This would also influence their occupational status as they matured, and it was found that those individuals from higher class households would in all probability enjoy a higher occupational status when they were adults, while those who grew up in a deprived atmosphere would display a lower occupational tendency when they were older.Recent research has revealed the fact that within a so cial situation, a human being will at first interpret the situation, before he responds to it, and this in itself would explain the ways in which his psychological capacities develop and function in the social world, rather than a study of the anatomy of the brain as in neuroscience. The importance of a particular social situation may differ from one individual to another, and it is important to remember that many situations do not have a fixed meaning; the meaning would depend on the person within the context.Take for example a situation in which a person tells jokes: while it may be fun for one person, it may be an anxiety provoking situation for another, while for another; it may be some sort of competition. Those personality theorists who work within a psychoanalytic, behavioral, and trait-theory context may find that they are able to successful identify certain principles of personality functioning that would transcend the social circumstances in which the individual finds hims elf, in much the same way that a biologist may make an attempt to identify the basic principles of human anatomy and physiology that would transcend social circumstances. (Pervin, Cervone and Oliver (n.d.)Katherine Kalliel states that in their book ‘Neurodynamics of Personality’, authors Grigsby and Stevens discuss the commonality to be found between personality development and neurosciences and neurodynamics, and she also states that the authors offer the opinion that â€Å"personality reflects the emergent properties of a dynamic, hierarchically ordered, modular, distributed, self-organizing functional system, the primary objective of which is the successful adaptation of the individual to his or her physical and social environment†. (Kalliel, M Katherine Ed.D (2000) This would bring one back to the question, â€Å"Can there be neuroscience in personality?†The answer, in all probability, appears to be ‘Yes’ in today’s situation and gi ven today’s modern research and growing interest in the subject. In my own family, this may well manifest itself in my behavior at times of stress. While it is wide knowledge that stress would cause numerous health problems in an individual, like for example, elevated blood pressure and a suppression of the immune system, it is with the help of neurosciences that this aspect of human behavior has been analyzed, and a solution found.Today, when I feel my stress coming on and increasing because of a particular situation, and I am able to feel my personality changing as a result, I can believe that neuroscience has helped me cope with a situation over which I may have no control, but for the knowledge that it is my own behavior that is elevating the stress levels in my body, and that it is I who must learn to control it successfully. (Navasaria, Neha (1998)This in effect is what neuroscience has been able to achieve, in its research on human personality and on personality change s.References1.Pickering D Alan, Gray A Jeffrey (1990) Handbook of Personality: Theory and Research Google Book Search Retrieved on January 14, 2008http://books.google.com/books?id=2s_c4uMgM-YC&pg=PA277&lpg=PA277&dq=neuroscience+of+personality&source=web&ots=q8kc8JFVgO&sig=tsuXQ7TNbkq9_yJKRnWC5M5vSjM2. Research Paper about expensive college tuition 2

About expensive college tuition 2 - Research Paper Example Numerous factors have been attributed to the increasing cost of college tuition, among them being the high demand for higher education. However, the great question is if this cost is worth the value of education that students attain. Bennett and David (199) say that almost every parent says they need their child to join college. Therefore, nearly 68 percent of high school graduates attend college. However, only 54 percent of the total students who join college graduate with full academic year’s attendances, six years to be precise. Hence, with all the students with high dreams and hopes joining college, only about half graduate from college (Bennett and David 200). Lange and Topel (460) outline that according to the College Data, to attend an in-state public college or university students have an average budget of $22,261. While that number seems lower for public colleges and universities, private colleges and universities’ is estimated at $43,289. With this high cost, CNN reported that for 2013 alone each graduate or college student owed the state averagely $35,200 loan debt. According to Lange and Topel (464) in the perspective view, the summary of the average household consumer debt in the United States shows that Americans all owe $31,646 of student loan debt. In total household consumer debts, American consumers or citizens owe the state a debt of $11.15 trillion out of which $994 billion is debt in student loans. This shows a 4 percent debt increase from 2012 (Marc Joseph A16). It is true that the college tuition fee has become too high. Parents get afraid that their children might not be able to attend college (Lange and Topel 480). The lucky who can take their children to colleges pay a lot of money. Americans know that part of the reason for the high college fee is due to the declining state support on education. However, it is also very true that those

Review of the Strategic situation of DeBeer's Essay

Review of the Strategic situation of DeBeer's - Essay Example In view of the emerging challenges, DeBeers had to g back to the drawing board and strategize how it would remain relevant in the market, having lost its monopolistic powers and its market share reduced to 60%. The image of the company had also been tainted for engaging in non-business friendly and illegal practices when it was the market leader as it tried to wade off competition. The company had to change its strategy from a ‘buyer of a last resort’ to a more demand driven strategy that bore in mind the need for a good brand image. A good analysis of this strategy indicates that the company is still going to be a relevant contributor to the industry in the foreseeable future amid the challenges it faces. TABLE OF CONTENTS Title page 1 Executive Summary 2 Introduction 4 Body Analysis of business environment 6 Analysis of the Organization’s strategy 8 Appraisal of the strategy 10 Conclusion 10 Reference list 11 Word Count 12 DeBeers’ Diamond Dilemma Introdu ction Natural diamonds are formed as a result of carbon atoms beneath the surface of the earth bonding in to cubic structures due to excess heat and pressure in a very hard transparent compound. With the discovery of diamond deposits in various parts of the world in the 18th and 19th century, extraction process begun leading to the establishment of the diamond industry as one of the biggest economic sectors of most countries with diamond deposits (Hesse, R. W. 2007). Diamonds are heterogeneous minerals and were initially not considered as commodities in the market like other minerals such as copper and gold. Natural diamonds have widely been used in making jewelry and other precious and coveted ornaments. One of the countries naturally endowed with diamond deposits is South Africa. Other countries with huge deposits of diamond include Angola, Botswana, Democratic republic of Congo, Russia, Australia, and Canada. Together, the seven countries account for about 96% of global productio n of diamond and about 88% of the value of diamonds produced. Initially the diamond producing countries would export the rough diamond to other countries for processing (Carlson, 2005). Diamond processing involves cutting and polishing the rough diamonds into precious items. India was the most dominant diamond processing country in the beginning, while the situations has now changed since most of the producing countries now have diamond processing plants locally. DeBeers, a diamond extraction company in South Africa has for a long time been the market leader in the global diamond industry, controlling about 80% of total diamond supplies and produced about 45% of global production of diamonds. As a market leader, DeBeers could control the prices of rough diamonds globally by regulating supply. In a bid to expand its market share, the company engaged in various practices that aimed at killing any competition. So9me of the company’s practices were illegal in other jurisdictions and contributed to creation of a negative image of DeBeers on the global scene. From the early 1990s to date, the position of DeBeers as the market leader has been overtaken due to various factors that led to establishment and growth of other competitors as well as the popularity of synthetic diamonds and the shifting of the diamond market to adopt the demand-supply structure as the main price determinants. The dissolution of the Soviet Union led to

Criminal justice Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Criminal justice - Research Paper Example It necessitates the placement of new cultural values that tend to focus on innovation and empowerment. Though much attention had been paid to the task of identifying the requisite changes, very little effort has been put into thinking as to how to lead these transformations. Thus, transformational leadership is of much relevance in the management of existing public safety environments. Transformational/Pseudo-Transformational Leadership It is important to understand the relevance of transformational leadership in the public safety environment, as the much needed changes can only be brought about by leaders who have a clear sense of direction, and a compelling vision as to what the system expects from the much coveted transformation and change (Rickards, 2005, p. 81). Everybody expects the things to change. Yet, there are only a few leaders who have the ability to convince and convey to the public safety personnel as to how do they stand to gain by extending meaningful contributions ( Rickards, 2005, p. 81). It is a fact supported by commonsensical observation that most of the public safety agencies today are overburdened, resource deficient and to some extent de-motivated. In that context a transformational approach to leadership is one that supports novel approaches centered on innovation and change. People employed in public safety settings do hesitate to embrace change because either they feel that it may not be appreciated by their superiors or are simply oblivious of the steps that usher in change. Thus a leader should not only be one who has a vision, but the one who is also able to translate that vision into pragmatic and realistic strategies that could easily be embraced and followed by others. A transformational leader guides by example (Rickards, 2005, p. 82). A transformational leader takes the initiative to embrace change, to bring change. Public safety settings are marked by serious and real life situations and challenges that can simply not be deal t through hollow lip service. Hence, a transformational leader is one who is not only able to establish the right degree of trust in the organizational framework, but also has the infectious humor and optimism that can generate confidence in the times marked by crisis and problems (Rickards, 2005, 82). Central to transformational leadership in any organizational environment is the ability to formulate, organize and communicate a vision. Yet, the fact that is mostly overlooked in this aspect of transformational leadership is that it is also endowed with the potential and opportunities to resort to unethical behavior and misconduct (Parry & Proctor-Thomson, 2002, p. 78). The problem with the contemporary public safety organizations is not that they lack transformational leadership, but rather the fact that the harbingers of this vision are mostly inflexible and harbor an absolutist approach towards things. The vision of this nature though may be effective in the short run, yet it by i ts very nature lacks consideration and sensitivity for many important things, and is hence less effective at promoting ethical conduct within organizations, thereby negatively impacting the levels of trust (Parry & Proctor-Thomson, 2002, p. 78). If a transformational leader turns egoistic in one’s aspirations, one may direct the organizational resources and efforts towards goals that may be deemed to be

Building Effective Teams - Essay Example While age is protected to a limited degree from job discrimination, Ace needs to do more to reap the benefits from the experience that age can offer. With a diverse age group, we can gain from the energy and creativity of youth while also realizing the rewards of age and experience. Along with temperament and seasoned judgment, the older person can perform at above average levels. Robbins, 2003, dispels the common misperception of lowered output with age when he contends, "...[E]vidence demonstrates a positive relationship between seniority and job productivity" (p 40). The older staff can get new ideas from the younger members, while the younger can grow with the help of coaching by the more senior team members. People from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds are mandatory in today's global marketplace. Not only can they be knowledgeable about culture specific traditions and customs, they may prove invaluable in certain sales situations where trust may be an issue. Bahry, Kosolapov, Kozyreva, and Wilson, 2005, concluded that, "...such generalized trust is far more common in ethnically homogeneous than in more diverse societies".

Link between ADHD and Criminal Behavior Research Paper

Link between ADHD and Criminal Behavior - Research Paper Example Many researchers have indicated that there have been continued link between psychiatric disorders and antisocial disorders in children. Since ADHD starts early in children, there is the possibility of this condition extending into adult-hood and breed criminal behavior. Research has also termed this disorder as the developmental forerunner of later disruptive behavior and criminality. In addition, there is a connection between ADHD and conduct or personality disorders. It is evident that ADHD causes this personality and conduct disorders which later leads to criminality. For instance, recent studies performed on prisoners in western nations have indicated that approximately half of the inmates tested positive for the diagnoses of serious antisocial personality disorder or conduct disorder when imprisoned. In addition, enduring evaluation researches have established that attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) merged with conduct disorder is a forerunner of later criminal beha vior (Mordre et al., 2011). Ghanizadeh et al. (2011) portray three major areas, which describe the clear connection of ADHD with criminal behavior. In the first premise, they claim that ADHD might lead to delinquent activities consequently attracting imprisonment. The second premise entails the relationship between ADHD and conduct disorder. In this regard, they note that there is a strong connection between the high rate of conduct behavior and the prevalence of ADHD. This means that most patients with ADHD show symptoms of conduct disorder, which primarily indicates the onset of criminal behavior. The third premise is that imprisonment and offender behavior may lead to ADHD and conduct disorder.

Sommers Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Sommers - Essay Example Considering these aspects, I think Sommer is a little accurate about me as even I face dilemmas while thinking in terms of morale. But fortunately only at rare times, I believe, have I been in situations that have made me helpless to make confident moral judgments.  Sommer has suggested that adults, especially teachers should improve the youth’s knowledge and comprehension of moral values and they should guide the youth into believing in these values and ideals. â€Å"Teachers with integrity are viewed as morally sound models for young people to follow† and so I believe that teachers play a significant role in molding the children’s character and moral behavior. â€Å"Moral Conservatism† is what she thinks the society needs. She believes that people live in a moral environment and that they should respect and preserve it. She emphasizes the need to value and respect the traditions that we have inherited. She also wants to encourage the institutions, whic h promote moral teachings along with academics. The essay in total has a very interesting appeal to it. It does not present facts in a boring way like most essays do. However, the thing that interested me the most is the story about the hippies as I am coming across it for the first time. Also her phrases such as "hole in the moral zone," "social fabric" etc seem very unique and unique things. I am very grateful for being given this assignment, as it has helped me learn new facts and has inspired me to be more responsible towards my ethics.

Bertrand Russell Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Bertrand Russell - Essay Example There are people around the world who might actually think this way. They have no concern regarding God, religion, and anything spiritual. They have no time for all this or they are simply not bothered to actually find out the evidence for Christianity. Thus, till someone has actually researched and looked into every aspect of the religion they cannot just say there is no evidence for God. Like Hitchens said regarding God that â€Å"there exists not a shred of respectable evidence† (Stokes, 2012, p. 11). Besides this, the â€Å"lack of evidence† is also an excuse for those not wanting to change their views. They just chose to believe something and therefore, they would not simply change because of some evidence they come across or are told of. They cannot be forced to believe. As Jesus said: â€Å"Seek and you will find, knock and the door shall be opened, ask and it will be given you.   For he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it shall be opened, and to him who asks it shall be given† (Githaite, 2007, p. 211). It clearly means that God will be available to those who actually make an effort to seek him and look for him; who try to find evidence regarding his existence. God does not force Himself upon us. However, He has not even left us to our own devices for us to work out our ways. God follows us and draws us to Himself. Jesus is quoted to have said: â€Å"No man can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him† (Oxford University Press, 2006, p. 652). It is we who have to open up our minds and hearts to Him. God has given clues regarding his existence, he has given us a sound mind and heart and it is up to the human beings to look for them. God is visible to those who seek him while He hides away from the ones who do not. That is, â€Å"the evidence is there for those who have eyes to see† (Kreeft, 1988, p. 44). When it is said that enough evidence does not exist to prove that there is a God, it does not defini tely mean that existence of God becomes a scientific fact; rather, the present evidence just makes the Christian belief rational. Previously one major reason behind there being so many atheists was that the philosophers of those times were mostly atheists and they gave very solid arguments against God, gaining followers and making a huge impact. Now, however, the philosophers are theists and again their arguments are apparently very valid and intellectual, thus they being outspoken Christians and the belief in God. There is just too much information and evidence of the existence of God. To start with there is the Big Bang Theory according to which the universe was created out of nothing. Big Bang led to not just the formation of this universe, matter and energy but also time and space. It just does not make any sense that anything at all can be created out of nothing; it is just not possible either scientifically or philosophically. That only leaves one idea: that there is a very po werful Higher Being who formed the universe and now controls it. The Big Bang was caused by Him. In fact, the universe was not just formed but also maintained continuously and intelligently. There is scientific evidence to prove this fact. Stephen Hawking found that in case the universe had expanded less than even one part in a hundred thousand million million a second after the Big Bang, the universe would have re-collapsed into a hot fireball. It is very obvious that a great and powerful mind is

World Cup Impact on South Africas Tourism Sector Essay

World Cup Impact on South Africas Tourism Sector - Essay Example The FIFA 2010 world cup contributed to a massive increase in the number of international tourists arrivals. In this regard Francheska (2011) stated that most of South Africa’s tourists are drawn from other African countries and Europe, which offers the country the highest number of tourists arrivals annually. Among the major tourists, attractions in South Africa include the country’s national parks, world heritage sites, and cultural and historic sites. Additionally, the country has a vibrant wine sector that has also been able to attract high number of tourists and even the Robben Island where the country’s iconic figure, Mr. Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for twenty-five years has been a key attraction sites mostly for scholars in the field of history, this is according to Mattner et al. (2012). Equally, it is of essence to that the tourism sector in the country has substantially contributed to the country’s growth in terms of job creation, infrastructure development, and source of foreign exchange. The weather pattern affects South Africa’s tourism sector in equal measures as it does in other countries. This is to say that during harsh climatic conditions such as winter the tourism sector usually experience low activities or low tourists arrivals while during favorable climatic conditions such as summer it experience a boom in the sector. Altbeker (2009) stated that the key factor that negatively affects the South Africa’s tourism sector is the crime level in the country, which makes many international tourists shy away from visiting the country for fear of their own safety. To the Lighthouse Essay Example for Free

To the Lighthouse Essay The novel To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf published in 1927 is a milestone of high modernism and experiments the stream-of-consciousness style. There are three sections in the book and the text revolves around the Ramsay family during their visit to the Isle of Skye in Scotland between 1910 1nd 1920. The fundamental theme of the novel is the universal contradiction of feminine and masculine opinions. The two leading characters in the novel represent the two contradictory themes. Mrs. Ramsey is highly sensitive and emotional in her outlook and she represents female attitude, while Mr. Ramsey is egotistical theorist and represents male attitude with lucid exposition. Both are bound in their restricted boundary and therefore lack impartial, liberal and rational viewpoint. Lily Briscoe, a painter and house guest of the Ramsey, is Woolf’s vision of the genderless artist who typifies the perfect combination of female and male qualities. She successfully completes a painting on which she concentrates from the beginning is symbolical of female and male combination. The first part of the novel, the window, opens with Ramsey’s in their summer house at Hebrides. We see a new day starts with the promise of Mrs. Ramsey to take her son, James to the lighthouse but Mr. Ramsey interrupts and says Mukherjee 2 that the weather will not allow it. Small James feels very angry with his father for scorning his mother. Here the psychological factor â€Å"oedipal complex† propounded by Freud can be recollected. James hates his father while he considers his mother â€Å"ten thousand times better in every way† (chp-1). The relationship of Mr. and Mrs. Ramsey is also emphasized in this section of the novel. They are quite the opposite to each other. Mr. Ramsey is peculiar and unconventional in attitude while Mrs. Ramsey fights at every stage to maintain a congruent atmosphere. We watch the drama as if through a window and can hear their internal thoughts and feelings speak. The most dramatic scene of Mrs. Ramsay’s dinner party is the nucleus of the novel. The party begins with a catastrophe. The guests come late and Mr. Ramsey behaves rudely towards them (chp-xvii). The opening of the chapter shifts from one party goers’ observation to the other. Each is seen to be â€Å"remote† and like Tansley they all feel â€Å"rough and isolated and lonely†. The connection of Lily and Mrs. Ramsey deepens in chapter xvii and she feels she acts in the same way in her mockery with Tansley. She concludes all women even those in conventional position feel the control of tradition. The section of the novel gives the impression of the time passing and the feeling of absence and death. Woolf wrote that her purpose of writing this section was â€Å"an interesting experiment (that gave) the sense of ten years passing. It’s the time when Britain got involved and finished fighting the World War I. A number of changes take place. Mrs. Ramsey passes away, Pru dies in childbirth. Mr. Ramsey is left alone, no one is there to praise and comfort him in times of his frustration when he doubts the long term existence of his philosophical work. Woolf’s works closely observe men and their perceptions rather than concentrating on the objects of vision. There is much allusion to autobiography of Woolf throughout the novel. Brief History Essay Example for Free

Brief History Essay Iran, or what is formally called as the Islamic Republic of Iran, has a rich culture starting out since 8000 B.C. (Ladjevardian par. 2). The historic trends that transpired since then up to the present has had a lot to do with the political turmoil which the country has experienced. The economy and the culture of Iran were greatly influenced by these changes; wars within and outside the country were also great factors to the country’s history. The beginning of the 20th century had positive changes for Iran after centuries of different dynasties. The Pahlavi Dynasty during the 1920s, which was also the last dynasty to rule Iran, constructed road infrastructures and initiated land reforms; education was also opened for women during this time. In 1946, Iran had a taste of freedom from the Soviet Union and in 1951, passed a law to take the Oil industry from the British control (Ladjevardian par. 73). The country experienced a sudden economic growth in 1963-1973 and during this time that public and educational institutions were further improved. By 1973, Iran was earning about $20 billion a year (Ladjevardian par. 76) from its Oil revenues. The Supreme Leader’s determination to modernize Iran instantly, backed up by the rapid economic growth, created pressure on the administration which eventually led to economic turmoil such as inflation, corruption, and increase authoritarianism by the Supreme Leader. Moreover, numerous social and political problems continued to emerge that needed to be dealt with. In 1978, the economic growth of Iran slowed down; the Supreme Leader was overthrown and since then, the government of Iran became a theocratic republic; from 1980-1988, Iran fought against Iraq. The economic loss due to the war caused a lot of problems to Iran. Furthermore, the population of the country increased tremendously and has resulted to increase in unemployment. Communication and transportation and education and public institutions were also needed to be recovered. Iran’s Economy and Resources Iran remained to be a country dependent on its oil industry; its earnings comprise the 70% of its government revenues (Economy of Iran par. 1). Its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased from 34M Iranian rial in 1990 to 1.7B in 2005, partly due to said industry’s earnings. The oil industry’s role to the economy of Iran proves to be of utmost importance since this is the main export of the country. It includes petroleum, chemical and petrochemical products; other exports of Iran are from their agricultural and service sectors products such as fruits and nuts, cars, carpet and technical services. Though Iran’s GDP increased tremendously over the years, the country’s economic problems such as inflation and unemployment remain to be the two most impediments to the country’s growth. Economic Issues Khalaji (par. 3) reports that inflation in Iran reached 19% in 2008. This figure was reportedly to have been due, in part, to the increasing corruption in the country. This puts the country in a difficult situation as inflation translates to increase in goods’ prices and corruption leads to more political and social chaos. The increase in the goods’ prices lead to more importation as goods from other countries appear relatively cheaper. Inasmuch as the said problem makes the country’s situation appalling, the unemployment problem further worsens it. This was due to the increasing population which has not been backed up with increase in job offerings. Iranians pursue to work outside the country instead leading to the reportedly brain drain. It has been said that the historic trends in Iran was greatly affected by the political turmoil in the country, and that economic and cultural changes were also affected by it. The economic issues in Iran have then put the country in a social dilemma. The oil industry is not enough to sustain the country’s needs. Iran’s lack of resources to provide for its citizens sustenance require importing from other countries. This is where the importance of trade comes in. Gross Domestic Product GDP of a country is an indicator of the economic growth. The national currency of Iran is Iranian Real (IRR). Since 1990 it has increased, with an average annual growth rate between 1990 and 2005 of 2.5% as seen in the figure 1. (Economy of Iran par. 1) It means that as time has passed, the economic growth of Iran improved. There were several factors that affected the growth of the Iranian economy. The paper will dwell more on the economic indicators on how the economy of Iran rose. The highest GDP growth rate was recorded into 2002, when there was a 7.1% growth rate. Its oil abundance is considered to be the main source of its growth. Being one of OPEC’s cartel members, it has the privilege to gain higher returns for its oil products. A big contributer to Iran’s GDP growth would be its strong domestic demand benefited the non-oil and manufacturing countries.

Boom pickles was incorporated on may 15th 1989 in recent years had achieved tremendous success in india. But due to immense competition the company was not able to take quick decisions did not change its strategies in the competitive amrket. Eventually the goodwill of the company diminished the board of directors resigned. A new board consisting of 4 board members from the same industry were appointed. The new board suggested a change in name which was eventually agreed by the shareholders the company law approved of it. The determination hard work put in by the employees of the company paid off jashn pickles now have manufacturing units in all the zones viz north, east, west, south. The company retained its base in mumbai. Strategies adopted in indiaThe print media the idiot box helped us in achieving the required attention like the news of our comeback in the newspaper television channels. The billboards on the best buses in mubai, posters in the local trains on the ooh media service in railways helped us set our image in the minds of the people. A new strategy which is called the pique technique where you keep on repeating the name in full speed. This irritates a normal human being but at the end of the day the name registers in his mind. Need to go globalGlobalization is necessary for the following reasons: 1: profit maximization: the main moto of a business is to achieve profits. If we enter into a wider market the chances of profit increases what great opportunity to enter the foreign market after the success of your product in india. 2: stagnant or shrinking domestic markets: the pickle industry in india has grown very rapidly in recent times. A lot of manufacturers have come into existence which has shrinked the market for pickles in india. Although covering entire india is not possible as the scope is huge we have opted to go global. 3: foreign revenue: globalization is necessary to earn foreign exchange currency for the country as it is our duty to earn for our country. This will help us to achieve economies of scale. 4: reduce dependency on single market : as mentioned above, the competitors are increasing day by day in india. So to reduce the dependency on a single market we plan to go global in search of a much bigger market less competition. WHICH COUNTRY? It is the first time for jashn pickles to go overseas. After market research in many different countries we zeroed in on the united arab emirates (uae). The united arab emirates (uae) is a situated in the southeast of the arabian peninsula in southwest asia on the persian gulf, bordering oman and saudi arabia. The seven states, termed emirates, are abu dhabi, ajman, dubai, fujairah, ras al-khaimah, sharjah and umm al-quwain. The uae, rich in oil and natural gas, has become highly prosperous after gaining foreign direct investment funding in the 1970s. The country has a relatively high human development index for the asian continent, ranking 31st globally, and had a gdp purchasing power parity of $200.5 billion in 2009 according to the imf. The population of the country is 4,621,399. The currency in uae is dirhams (1 dirham = 13 inr). We will be targeting 3 of the 7 emirates I.E. Abu dhabi, dubai sharjah as our first target audience is indians these three emirates constitute a higher percentage of indians. WHY UAE? Indians in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) constitute a large part of population of the country. Over a million Indian migrants are estimated to be living in the UAE (2000), who form over 40% of the total population of the UAE. A majority of Indians live in the three largest cities of the UAE Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Indian contact with the emirates that now constitute the UAE dates back several centuries, as a result of trade and commerce between the emirates and India. More recently, the UAE has experienced a tremendous increase in the population of Indians who, having migrated to the country as a result of opportunities in petroleum, construction and other industries, far outnumber the population of local Emiratis. While most Indian migrants support the manufacturing and transport industries, a sizable minority of migrants are involved in professional services and entrepreneurship. Relations between India and the UAE have traditionally been friendly, though recent incidents relating to the treatment of the Indian migrant labor force by companies in the UAE have been the source of friction between the two nations. Also UAE is the hub for exports in the gulf so it will be easier for us in the future to export in gulf countries. PRODUCTS IN UAE TRADITIONAL EXOTIC RECIPIES JASHN SPECIALITIES DIET PICKLES NON-VEG PICKLES Mango Pickled potatoes Cheese dips garnished with zatar Soya pickles Chicken pickles Lemon Pickled mushrooms Lemon marmalade Bitter guard pickles Prawn pickles Mix vegetable Pickled okra Strawberry Pickles Amla pickles Fish pickles Green chili Pickled chickpeas Lamb pickles Red chili Pickled lentils Eggplant Carrot Onions Garlic pickles AN ARTICLE ON PICKLES A report by Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) stated that during the year 2000-01, total production of pickles was 13645.16 metric tones and in 2002-03 the country earned Rs 154.16 lakh through exports. The exports could be doubled if provided efforts were made to organize the pickle industry. However, by using little care and simple technology, pickles can be prepared and preserved for a long period, the report suggested. The finer aspects of pickle making can boosting export of this delicacy from India. In order to overcome bitter taste of pickles the report pointed out that spices should not be cooked for a long time and a low concentration of vinegar should be used. Strict hygienic practice and iron utensils be never used. The scum formation in pickles occurs when mild yeast gains entry into the pickles. The problem can be overcome by adding acetic acid. Regarding cloudiness in pickles, the report said this can be seen in onion pickles or where whole fruits or vegetables are the material for pickle making. It can be checked by using small and thin textured material for pickle making especially onions. Blemishes in pickles can be seen in case of onion pickles and is due to some kind of fermentation. Such defect can be prevented by using fresh vinegar at the time of curing. Good quality oil and spices should be used for getting best flavor in pickles. LEVELS OF A PRODUCT The CORE product is NOT the tangible, physical product. Thats because the core product is the BENEFIT of the product that makes it valuable to you. So with the car example, the benefit is convenience i.e. the ease at which you can go where you like, when you want to. Another core benefit is speed since you can travel around relatively quickly. The ACTUAL product is the tangible, physical product. You can get some use out of it. Again with the car example, it is the vehicle that you test drive, buy and then collect. The AUGMENTED product is the non-physical part of the product. It usually consists of lots of added value, for which you may or may not pay a premium. So when you buy a car, part of the augmented product would be the warranty, the customer service support offered by the cars manufacture, and any after-sales service. TRANSPORTATION IT IS SAID THAT ONE OF THE MAJOR LOGISTICAL BLABBER IS THE TRANSPORTATION. IN THE CASE OF JASHN PICKLES EXPORTING TO UAE IT IS NOT THAT DIFFICULT AS THE SEA TRANSPORT IS MUCH CHEAPER QUICK. OUR CONSIGNMENT WILL LEAVE FROM THE JNPT (JAWAHARLAL NEHRU PORT TRUST) IN NAVI MUMBAI TO JABEL ALI PRT IN DUBAI WHICH IS A FREE TRADE AREA. FROM THE JABEL ALI PORT OUR CONSIGNMENT WILL GO TO THE DEALERS IN DUBAI THEN TO THE WHOLESALERS THEN TO THE RETAILERS SUPERMARKETS OR RESTAURANTS FROM THERE FINALLY TO THE CUSTOMER. THE COST OF TRANSPORTATION WILL NOT BE HUGE AS THE IMPORT DUTY IN UAE IS JUST 5% THE UAE GOVERNMENT HAVE GIVEN US CERTAIN BENEFITS AS THE TRADE RELATIONS BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES IS VERY GOOD. MARKETING MIX FOR A COMPANY TO SUCCEED IN A GLOBAL MARKET THE 4 PS OF MARKETING SHOULD BE VERY CLEAR. PRODUCT PLACE PRICE PROMOTION PACKAGING A good package for pickles should have the following attributes: Aroma retention Excellent protection against light, moisture and oxygen Excellent seal integrity for containment Grease and oil resistance Acid resistance Good aesthetics and appearance Types of Packaging for Pickles Traditionally, the practice was to prepare pickles at home and store in ceramic or earthenware jars. Gradually over the years, pickles are manufactured and commercially marketed in the country, as branded products. In our country, still large quantity of pickle is sold loose. The shopkeeper displays various types of pickles in large glass jars, and weighs out desired quantity of pickle to his customers. The customer trusts the shopkeeper for the quality and not the brand name. However, gradually pickle packed in glass bottles under different brand names, appeared in the market and became popular. The trend started in Maharashtra and Gujarat. Glass bottled pickles are almost double in cost because of heavy packing and transportation costs. They looked hygienic and appealed to the brand conscious upper class. With the advent of plastics, pickles packed in HDPE (high density polyethylene) and later PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) jars were introduced. HDPE jars are usually used for packing 1Kilogram and more. They are opaque so do not provide visibility of the pickle, but are convenient, as they do not break in transit. The PET jars are transparent, with good eye appeal and safe for pickle. PC (polycarbonate) bottles are best for pickles but they are still very costly. Over the last few years, cost effective flexible pouches of co-extruded and laminated structures have replaced glass jars. The pouches could be flat pillow pouches or stand-up pouches, which have a good display value. They are light in weight and hygienic. However, in flexible pouches, the sealant layer selection is very critical, as the contact layer needs to be acid and oil resistant. Failure of seals or surface stickiness can render the pack ineffective and un-saleable. Initially, the flexible packaging of pickles commenced as a simple LDPE (low density polyethylene) pouch, which neither provided protection from oxygen nor did it give an effective heat seal, as LDPE is not compatible with oil, causing failure of pouches. Gradually multi-layered coextruded pouches and laminated pouches were introduced. The capacity of the pouches range from 200 grams to 1 kilogram. The pouches could be flat pillow type or stand-up pouches for shelf display. To sum up: For catering / institutional packs 5 or 6 kilograms HDPE or PET jars. 20 kg HDPE jarsare also available and used for the purpose For consumers 400/500 grams glass jars or PET jars For cost conscious housewives printed pillow or stand-up pouches For portion packs polystyrene or polypropylene injection moulded containers with flexible heat-sealable, peel able lids. PRICING THE PRICING OF A PRODUCT CAN BE BIFURCATED AS THE COST OF THE PRODUCT + THE DUTY + PROFIT MARGIN. KEEPING THIS INTO CONSIDERATION THE PRICE OF JASHN PICKLES ARE 500 Gms 8 dirham 250 Gms 4.25 dirham 1kg (catering pack) 15 dirham Traveler pack 50 phills Har din ek Jashn pack 11 dirham PROMOTION For people to know that your product exists in the market you have to show them that your producr exists. Ways of promoting a product is very common but a successful marketer is the one who does common things in an uncommon way. This was the thought behind our promotional strategies. Our promotional strategies include the basic promotional ways like print media, television ads in uae (channel 33) which is very famous in uae. Tie ups with knowledge city in dubai which is an education hub to make indians there feel at home by providing them pickles with their meals. The special variety in uae is zatar which is very famous in all the 7 emirates especially in abu dhabi, dubai, sharjah. We would be setting up tasting zones in hypermarkets where the customers can taste our product give them their feedbacks. During the dubai shopping festival we would be putting up a stall to encourage more customers to buy our product. We will be having the pickle pot fiesta which is an 8 hour live music funfare. Most people will think it is not feasible how will we get funds? We have an answer to that alsoà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦. We will be inviting all the companies to buy a stall in our pot fiesta srk who is the bramd ambassador of jashn pickles performing at the show the money generated will go in the breast cancer relief fund. Thus our pickle will be advertised social responsibility to an extent might also be fulfilled. We have also tied up with a microsite called language of flavors which will be putting up billboards which will have different ways of spelling jashn pickles. This will be a huge hit as it is something which no one has evedr done before. Future plansWe are planning to set up manufacturing unit in jabel ali as its a free trade area. We will also be concentrating on the remaining 4 emirates from there on to the other gulf countries. As per the competition, we have major competition with eicher ltd, pravin bedekar. Our next pitstop after gulf countries will be japan italy as the pickle industry there is not competitive the market is huge. Our aim of this discussion or argument is not victory over other competitors but it is just progress. Jashn pickles Global marketing strategy Name : hasan al mutawa Id : 200810728

The Somewhat Scary Progression of Technology :: Computers

The Somewhat Scary Progression of Technology Technology has carved the path of human existence since our humble origins. It is our curious nature and ever present ingenuity that leads us to create technological wonders of perplexing magnitude. As the first Neanderthal man sharpened a spear and tempered it in lightning born flames he sealed man-kinds future; a future as certain as our past. The pendulum of human dominance started its undulation and science was conceived to replace the ignorance of our times of yore. With our undying fortitude our achievements soared to the sky within heavens reach, surpassing even our own expectations. Although, with this progress also came the burdens of responsibility, and our technology soon outreached the length of our control. Controlled or not, technology has shaped our fate in ways that are unfathomable by the human mind. The future of technology is difficult to foretell, and can only be prophesized by the study of our past. Technology as it exists in current times has taken the digital for. With a matrix of binary number systems; computers process information at speeds mystifying the more appreciative of our race. Our innocence and simple life style has been traded for the raw technology that subsidizes our every day existence. The evolution of technology has spurred the loss of culturally identifying characteristics of our society. Par example, labor has become less skilled and more monotonous in structure. The development of computers destroyed many talented workers who created superior goods with a level of quality unmatched by computerized mass production. Also, technology has lead to the ignorance of much of our youth. Video games have prevented scores of people from experiencing life and its awesomeness. They use false fantasy worlds created in the minds on game designers to replace their scanty reality. This spawns drab people without the necessary experiences to live life. With the advent of technology also came mankind’s loss of privacy. There are many things that the masses do every day that are being recorded and analyzed without our knowledge or consent. The purchases you make, such as beer, are recorded by servers to analyze the effects companies marketing strategy is having on your subconscious (cnn.

Ecstasy :: essays research papers

Today in the year 2000 there are many definitons of the word ecstasy. Deriving from the middle english word, exstasie, it has gone from being a state of overwhelming emotion to one of the most popular drugs in the "club world"today. When I ask my parents what they think when they hear the word ecstasy they say,"You, your sister, and brother in Disney World." Well times have definetely changed. I asked about fifteen people in my dorm what they think when they hear the word and all of them said the same thing; drugs. Ecstasy is a feeling you get when you are totally happy. Everybody has their own definition of what the word means to them. What it means to me being an eighteen year old girl in New York is completely different to what it means for someone being forty-five and living in Alaska. What ecstasy is for me changes all the time. Right now it would be not having to do any work, not having to go to the gym or diet, not fighting with my boyfriend or friends, not having stress from my parents, etc. I asked my sister what her ideal ecstasy is and she said, "Having a date for homecoming and a perfect dress." I then decided to ask my parents and they're answer was, "Perfect health and total happiness for our children." If I ask myself this question in a year my response will be totally different. You can tell how differently people use the word just by listening to the radio. When I hear Eminem use the word in his song, "This ecstasy got me standing next to you" he is referring to the drug. When Tony Braxton used the word in her song, "And I'm in ecstasy" she is referring to the feeling. When my friends are talking about ecstasy they are talking about the drug. I don't even have to question what they are talking about because I know already. Ecstasy to them is the drug and only the drug. This is not because they do ecstasy or other drugs it's because that's all they think of when they hear the word. When it comes to my parents it can be either. Sometimes they'll want to ask me questions about the drug or warn me and other times they are talking about the feeling. Ecstasy the drug has many names.

How Thomas Hardy Suggests that this is a Moment of Transformation Essay

How Thomas Hardy Suggests that this is a Moment of Transformation for Bathsheba Everdene Thomas Hardy is able to suggest to us that this is a moment of transformation for Bathsheba Everdene, due to a number of factors. Thomas Hardy uses both the elements as well as the actions of Sergeant Troy to help us understand the reasons behind Bathsheba's transformation and the way in which it comes about. Thomas Hardy uses the setting of Bathsheba and Troy's meeting to its full potential. Bathsheba goes to meet the sergeant at the bottom of a pit, which has a saucer like shape and is 'naturally formed, with a top diameter of about thirty feet'. There are ferns growing all over the hills near by, but at the bottom of the slope into the pit the ferns cease to grow and instead there is a 'thick flossy carpet of moss and grass intermingled'. The ferns play an essential part in the transformation of Bathsheba, and we are almost immediately introduced to their role within the chapter. The ferns are personified in a way that allows them to share some of Bathsheba's soft, sensual qualities. The ferns are described as 'radiant' and 'diaphanous', and the way in which 'their soft, feathery arms' caress Bathsheba as she makes her way through them informs the reader that this chapter will be one of seduction. Hardy also informs us that this chapter will be full of action by the way, in which the sky is described to have a sense of activity within. The sun is shown as 'bristling ball of gold' which has 'long, luxuriant rays' which sweep over the tips of the ferns. All of these elementary factors play an important part within this chapter, but the role that the light plays within this chapter is even more so. The light is... ...episode is a new experience fro Bathsheba and this makes her exploratory character enlivened with excitement. The fact that she is so effectively in danger, she finds it enthralling, fun and wild, predominantly because this is her first real affair, and her first kiss. We are kept in a large amount of suspense over the kiss, and the effects which the kiss have Bathsheba are immense, Her blood beats, and she feels powerless, and has many mixed emotions. She even cries and is unsure if what she has committed a sin. As one can see Bathsheba has changed a great deal during this encounter with Troy. She has had her world turned upside and feels very confused, and her strong unemotional barrier has been broken, she has fallen into the enchantment of a man, and is totally lost. This meeting will affect her forever more, and is a major incident of the novel.

Contraceptives in School Essay

During the past decade, there have been stark generational differences in terms of moral and social norms. In order to accommodate for these changes, society has had to make difficult decisions regarding the protection of todays youth. One of the biggest controversies that have been ongoing deals with the gray area regarding the roles of educators and parents. School systems today are distributing condoms and contraceptives to students as young as 11 years old with the intention of preventing their students from suffering from the negative side effects of sex. From an ducator’s perspective, the distribution of condoms has become a necessity due to the overwhelming lack of morals instilled in the youth at the fault of their parents. They also argue that it encourages safety and that it is completely foolish to assume that abstinence is always practiced. On the contrary, conservatives will argue that condoms promote sex and their distribution will show minors that sex at a young age is socially acceptable. Conservatives’ opinions are naive because they blatantly condone the fact that standards and practices have changed dramatically over time. The rising issue of under aged sex has made the distribution of condoms a necessity in order to combat the negative ramifications of the decisions made by todays uneducated youth. A misconception that is widely believed is that passing out condoms in schools will influence or pressure teens to have sex. According to Dr. Kevin J. Minch, if young people believe they will be â€Å"safe† when using a condom they are much less likely to be deterred from engaging in dangerous and immoral behavior (Minch). The conservatives believe that with the introduction of condoms at an early age, this would lead to the unnecessary exposure of the youth to a concept hat should only be tackled by legal adults. It allows them to stray into the obscure world they are not yet ready for. Widespread condom distribution will establish sexual activity as the norm among young teens, creating peer pressure to participate in sex. The added temptation to engage in sexual activity is â€Å"protected† will result in more women having sex at a younger age, perhaps furthering their exploitation. Minch) Sex is a topic that should be addressed at the discretion of each parent and the fact is that educators are slowly taking over the responsibilities of the parent. The opposition would argue that parents of every ethnicity and background have spent years of their life attempting to instill solid morals and values to their children. It is understandable how a parent would feel for a high school teacher to pass out condoms to students at such a young age. Education systems are making the decision on what they think is best for the child rather than having the parents deciding the verdict on this issue. It is said that teenagers who have a good relationship with their parents are less likely to experience a pregnancy and the harsh consequences from unprotected sex. Good communication between parents nd children helps ensure that children make the right decisions when it comes to their sexual activity. However, as seen by the statistics, the amount of parental involvement in the lives of teens today is limited. Educators are simply picking up the slack since some parents do not educate their children on the simple right and wrongs like previous generations were taught. In addition to educators programs that educate our youth and that taxpayers should not fund these programs. â€Å"Is it really the responsibility of hardworking taxpayers to pay for the use of protection for irresponsible teens? I certainly do not think so† (Cook). Educators do not need to sanction the idea of a sexually active lifestyle; however they should hearten all young teenagers to make Judicious decisions when it comes to being sexually active. In this case, schools provide their sex-education classes and many prefer it stayed Just that, that it is not fit to provide a basket of condoms upon the exiting of a classroom. What the conservatives fail to do is look at the logical perspective and to take into account the statistics and reality of todays youth. What needs to be widely noticed is that the United States has the highest rates of teen pregnancy and births. It is fact that that the teen pregnancies in our nation cost the United States at least 7 billion dollars each year. For the fiscal year of 2006 the federal government spent over 38 billion dollars to support families that began with a birth from a teenage mother. Nearly eight billion dollars is spent each year to diagnose and treat sexually transmitted diseases. Either the money paid towards taxes can contribute to pregnancies and their after effects, or the money can be well Prevention is much more important when all the facts are spent on prevention. displayed. Every year, around 750,000 teenagers will get pregnant. As a result, more than two thirds of teenagers who give birth will drop out of school, thus leading to an uneducated and difficult future. Teenage mothers and their children are more likely than others to be placed in the poverty bracket; therefore billions of dollars are spent taking care of them. Teen pregnancies are seen as a disadvantage in todays society due to the fact that many children born to teenage mothers tend to have a low birth rate. In addition to this, children born to teenage mothers are said to do poorly in school as they age and are more suceptible to abuse and neglect. The ruth is that the Centers of Disease Control reports nineteen million new STDs each year and approximately half of these reports are from our youth. One in four sexually active teenagers become infected with a sexually transmitted disease every year, which includes but is not limited to Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Genital Warts, and Herpes. (The Alan Guttmacher Institute). Another mind wrenching fact coming from the American Social Health Association is that of nine million new STD cases in the year 2000, ninety percent was accounted for by HIV and HPV (Human Papillomavirus) in ages fifteen to twenty-four years of age. Chesson HW, Blandford JM, Gift TL, Tao G, Irwin KL. According to an educator working out of a New York City public high school, the idea of distributing condoms has her approval. â€Å"If I could, I would give out condoms in my classroom. I think we should make it as easy as possible for teens to access condoms. † This statement could cause an upheaval of opinion, but this teacher is looking out for the welfare of her students. High school students’ main focus should be education, goal setting, and discover ing their own individuality. These teenagers should live an energetic and active life without worrying about remarital sex. Even though this is true, it has been proven that over 50% of teenagers have had sexual intercourse before graduating High School. So what is to come of this? Considering a high percentage of high school students are in fact having sex, there are outstanding statistics proving many STDs and teenage with the prevention classes and protection. When students are provided with condoms, it at least gives them the opportunity to be responsible with such an irresponsible act. Condoms are proven not to be 100% effective protecting against pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. However they have and will cut the odds by a landslide. Their distribution could have a significant impact on many lives by protecting them from diseases and unforeseen pregnancies that can end a young mother’s future. The best defense against STD’s and under aged pregnancies is simply knowledge and protection. Frequently, parents are too embarrassed to approach their child about any type of sexual activity. For this reason students are left uniformed and in harms way. A catastrophe will take place if sex education and protection are taken away from the students today. Parents need to be active and not permit sexual activity and disregard its existence. Often our society does not recognize these situations. Regardless of the parents’ opinions of moral and religious rights, someone has to protect the youth considering abstinence is not a sure avenue for these children. This is why our education systems have, and need to continue doing so, taken a step forth to protect our nation’s future.

People have been cognize to become physically ill from the sample of working in a business where their core values were at betting odds with the values and ethics practiced in the business In addition to great(p) structure and direction to an individual or business, well-written mission statements are excellent tools to declare others about whats important to you and how you operate your business.Example mission statement 1 Our priorities are God, family ( raft), business. Our goal is to be a stead where people (our most valuable asset) have the opportunity to grow spiritually, personally, intellectually, and financially. Through lay God first and people second, our success as individuals and as a business is guaranteed. Example mission statement 2 To produce large quantities of high-quality milk as economically as possible, in order to provide an adequate standard of brisk for both owners and employees. These two mission statements communicate very different notions about whats important on these two farms and too give some indication that day-to-day business whitethorn be conducted differently as a result. Any mission st atement that concisely represents truth and human race about the individual or the farm is a good mission statement. Likewise, all statement that doesnt honestly and accurately represent the values and beliefs of the individual or the farm is a poor mission statement, regardless of what is says or how good it sounds. If goodness is a verbalize value or the pursuit of excellence a stated mission, yet average, industry standard, or juristic requirement is good enough, then what is the real commitment to excellence? Do they really live their stated mission? Mission statements serve to inform employees, friends, neighbors, and factory farm people about whats important to you and your business. They also serve as anchors and guideposts for both strategic and operational or tactical decision making on the farm. Vision While a mission is a statement of what is, a vision is a statement of what or how you would like things to be.A go for of the future youre working to bring out, what you deficiency to be when you grow up, what you destiny your business to become. 4 Without a vision of where youre going how can you develop a plan to get there and how will you know when youve arrived? Without a vision of where we would like to be, we can continue hiking various trails by life, climbing mountain after mountain, only to discover each time that weve arrived someplace we really dont neediness to be. Nothing was ever created without a vision. It guides us, gives us direction and draw a bead on, and can serve as a powerful motivator for those around us and ourselves. In order to real guide and displace a vision must 1. Be aligned with the core values of both the individuals and the farm business. and 2. Be in effect communicated to and accepted by everyone involved in the farm. The more precise and detailed you can be in physical composition a description of your vision of the future, the easier it will be to communicate it to others and gain their commitment to it, and the more likely you will be to achieve it. Being able to articulate a clear vision of the future is immanent if you expect employees and agri-service consultants to help you get there.Success comes by bringing aboard people ? as partners, employees or consultants ? with core values that choke well with the business, and who understand and accept the business mission and vision as unified closely with their own. Developing visions and missions that are truly shared takes time, effort, energy and commitment. You cant expect that just because you develop mission and vision statements, read them at a staff meeting and even sight them out in printed form, that everyone will nowadays accept and work toward achieving them. You need to pass the talk and be totally attached to them yourself first, and then discuss them with your employees and consultants at to the lowest degree eighter or ten generation before they will believe youre really serious and begin to internalise these statements. Goals & Objectives Mission and vision, although frequently short statements, are broad, encompassing and far- dispatching. They can often take care overwhelming and perhaps even insurmountable to achieve. The metaphors, How do you eat an elephant? One routine at a time and A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step, fit well in regard to achieving a mission and vision.Goals and objectives create the bite size pieces, the road symbolize and manageable stepping stones to achieve the mission, make the vision a reality, and navigate the course we have set for our business, or for ourselves. 5 read the business literary productions is confusing as to whats a goal and whats an objective, theyre used interchangeably from one business author to another. The education literature however is consistent and specific. Goals are the larger fuzzy things and objectives are the small S pecific M easurable A ttainable R ewarding T imed steps through which we achieve our goals. It doesnt really matter what we call them as long as we keep in mind the principle of, start small and break it down to minuscule in terms of identifying the steps that will pass away us in the direction we indigence to go. While its possible to get bogged down in minutiae, the reality is, few people error on the side of too much detail when it comes to pen goals and objectives. More often than not employees are confused and frustrated by a lack of detail. To be effective goals and objectives must be written. If they arent in writing theyre merely ideas with no real power or conviction arse them.Written goals and objectives provide motivation to achieve them and can then be used as a reminder to you and others. Clearly and specifically written, they also eliminate confusion and misunderstanding. Among all the attributes of a well-written objective, the most important are measurable results and a timeframe for completion. It would be very difficult for everyone in a carpool to make a decision on whether to turn right, left or go straight at the contiguous hybridization if each was headed for a different polish. If theyre all going to the same place, they may have different ideas on which way to turn and exactly how to get to where theyre going. One may like the scenic highroad, another knows about road social organization that should be avoided, a third may trust to take a cutoff and arrive early, a fourth may need to run an errand along the way. Since their destination is the same, even though there is multifariousness in their ideas, they should be able to reach a con sensus decision on the route to take based on nurture provided by each.Likewise in a business its difficult or unsufferable to agree on strategic or even tactical decisions if everyone in the business ? owners, managers, family members, employees ? are not all headed in the same direction, toward the same mission and vision. If a family, a business, or a team doesnt have a common direction ? mission, vision and core values ? arguments will occur surrounding nearly every decision and agreements may be impossible. Developing shared mission, vision and values is the first step in move a foundation for making strategic and tactical decisions that will move the business forward.Having them in place wont eliminate arguments and disagreements, but at least the disagreement will be about how to best get to the same end point as opposed to heading in opposite directions.
